This seminar will explore the connections that shape marine ecosystems, from cetaceans to phytoplankton. Drawing on her experience as a whale-watching guide, Jacqueline Joosten will introduce cetacean ecology and migration, highlighting the importance of polar phytoplankton as the foundation of the krill-based food web. She will then present her research on Antarctic phytoplankton and the POLAR BIOMAP project, which investigates climate-driven changes in phytoplankton communities.
