This workshop is ideal for Master's students and final-year undergraduate students in biological sciences or related fields.
No prior experience in bioinformatics is required. Participants must bring a personal laptop with internet access.
Maximum number of participants: 20
🔍 Workshop Highlights
🧬 Hands-On Training with Public Genomic Databases
Participants will explore key sequence repositories such as NCBI and Ensembl, learning how to retrieve, filter, and interpret genomic data relevant to aquaculture and fisheries research.
🔬 Practical Sequence Analysis
Attendees will work directly with raw sequencing data (FASTQ), applying quality control, trimming, and de novo assembly techniques using real fish genomic datasets.
💻 Introduction to the Galaxy EU Platform
The course includes guided training on the Galaxy Europe platform, enabling participants to perform bioinformatics workflows through an intuitive, code-free interface.
🐟 Aquaculture and Fisheries-Focused Case Studies
Real-world examples involving important aquaculture and fisheries species (e.g., salmonids, flatfish) will highlight the application of genomics in areas such as nutrition, reproduction, species identification, and production enhancement.
Registrations for the workshop are now closed.
