Fisheries enhancement: the group coordinated the deployment of artificial reefs in São Tomé and Principe (STP) aiming enhancement of artisanal fisheries and socioeconomic conditions of vulnerable fishing communities; the group leads a project to study an endemic species in STP with socioeconomic value but in an endangered status; several ongoing projects/research focus on fisheries ecology regarding fish/crabs commercial species were developed for support fishery decision making, namely enforce fishing regulation for artisanal estuarine/coastal fisheries (at national and international level), such as minimum landing size, spawning season, maximum catches and fishing effort regulations; assessment of trawling captures using onboard online cameras have been made which is essential for statistical proposes, understand the fate of mortality and fishing management under new discard ban EU regulation.
