In the Life Ilhas Barreira project, we aim to assess the resilience of the Barrier Islands to climate change, the status of Audouin's gull and Little Tern populations, and the impact of fishing on the Balearic Shearwater.

Project Activities

The project aims to:

  • characterize and map fishing areas and interactions with seabirds;
  • assess levels of accidental capture and test mitigation measures;
  • evaluate Audouin's gull dependence on fishing discards.
