Project Activities

The project involved 18 Fishers Associations, representing more than 700 fishermen throughout the entire Algarve region, in addition to other entities involved in the sector such as the administration, scientific community, and commercial sector.

This initiative aimed to implement a co-management system through the creation of a co-management committee, monitoring the resource (e.g., studying octopus stocks), and fishing activity (identifying fishing locations and duration and characteristics of the activity, as well as socio-economic issues), and the development of a management plan proposal for this fishery.
