At CCMAR, we take pride in nurturing the next generation of scientific talent. Our researchers play an integral role in shaping the academic journey of young scholars, teaching courses, supervising professional practices, and guiding theses for BSc, MSc, and PhD students primarily from the University of Algarve (UAlg). With over 90 PhD students currently under our wing, we provide a supportive environment where young researchers can flourish.
Over the past six years, CCMAR has been a cornerstone for academic growth, hosting and supervising a staggering 318 UAlg master's theses and 142 theses from 26 national and international universities. This rich tapestry of research opportunities allows young researchers to delve into diverse scientific domains and contribute meaningfully to their respective fields.
Dedicated Doctoral School
Our commitment to fostering the academic success of young researchers is further underscored by our dedicated doctoral school. This initiative aims to enhance the scientific conditions for hosting PhD students within our research groups, bolstering the number of PhD students at CCMAR. Moreover, it provides invaluable opportunities for students to develop their scientific and transversal skills, expand their networks, and pursue rewarding career paths.

Empowering Through Scientific Training
At CCMAR, we believe in equipping young researchers with the essential skills needed to excel in their scientific endeavors. To this end, we offer a wide array of scientific training courses tailored to enhance transversal skills such as science communication, intellectual property rights (IPR), scientific writing, and data management. Moreover, our advanced statistics and data analysis courses provide invaluable tools for navigating complex research data. Additionally, we provide hands-on technical training in laboratory methods and access to cutting-edge equipment, ensuring that young researchers are well-prepared to tackle scientific challenges.
Equipping researchers for scientific diving
As one of Europe's few fully certified scientific diving centers, we take pride in our role as pioneers in scientific diving training. To date, we have trained and certified over 130 scientific divers, empowering them to explore the depths of marine research with confidence and expertise.
