The group exhibition “OceanArt: From Science to Art” returns for its second edition, bringing together artists and scientists in a unique experience dedicated to raising awareness of the challenges facing the ocean.
Part of the 2026 Marine Forests Festival, this exhibition aims to bring the public closer to science through art, promoting greater awareness of issues such as biodiversity loss, climate change, marine pollution and the need to protect and restore ocean ecosystems.
What you can find
Thirteen artists present over twenty works of painting, sculpture and photography, all inspired by the ocean and its biodiversity, with each piece accompanied by relevant scientific information, creating a direct link between artistic expression and scientific knowledge.
The exhibition also includes photographs and content related to CCMAR research projects, offering the public an insight into the scientific work currently being carried out in the marine sector.
More than just an exhibition
OceanArt aims to:
Inform
Inspire
Raise awareness
By combining creativity and science to encourage changes in behaviour towards the ocean, the event invites visitors to reflect on the human impact on marine ecosystems and on the role each of us plays in protecting the planet.
If you care about the future of the ocean and marine biodiversity, we look forward to seeing you there.
This edition is organised by CCMAR – the Algarve Centre for Marine Sciences, and UALG – the University of the Algarve, and is supported by Odemira Municipal Council, the Parish Council of Vila Nova de Milfontes and Colégio Nossa Senhora da Graça. It is also sponsored by “Barranco Longo” wines.
