With accumulated experience, qualifications and expertise in scientific research, I have developed work in several marine related fields including fisheries, environmental impact assessment, conservation and resource management. To this scientific background, I combine skills and interests in science communication, which I use to convey complex scientific contents in simple and appealing formats. Passionate about the Ocean, my main professional goal is to contribute to Ocean Literacy and to bridge the potential of science and the needs of society, government and industry.
Rita Abecasis started to work with us on September. She will work at EMBRC.PT and also CCMAR, as Communication and Outreach Officer.
CCMAR was visited by a group of marine biology new students to let them know the work that our center develops as projects, research and events.
The aim of the exposition is to appeal to the reduction, reuse and recycling of plastic that has been affecting the Algarve coast.
This event brought together about 30 marine conservation researchers to reduce, edit and validate the list of indicators of marine protected areas.
Under the scope of project RI-VIS, we led the development of a tool that will improve how we communicate research infrastructures in Europe.
On June 6th, along with ISPA, LPN and ICNF partners, CCMAR promoted the inauguration of the new exhibition of the Oceanographic Museum of Portinho da Arrábida and the launch of the book "Este Mar é Especial".
Blue Forest Education, a new project of CCMAR, will educate and train different audiences on the importance of macroalgae, seagrass and saltmarshes.
The BridgingAll project will create a bridge between academia and schools with the goal of improving the quality of the education system in the Algarve, from primary school to university.
