CCMAR presents a new digital publication about the marine species of the Gettysburg and Ormonde seamounts in the Gorringe Bank.
This event brought together about 30 marine conservation researchers to reduce, edit and validate the list of indicators of marine protected areas.
The genus Caulerpa has attracted a lot of attention because many of its species became notoriously invasive. This is the case of the green algae Caulerpa prolifera that has been rapidly expanding in the Ria Formosa lagoon.
These deep marine habitats, essential for the health of marine ecosystems, are not yet protected.
The study is the result of a year of joint work by 67 experts who established a final list of 37 selected indicators, and for the first time governance indicators were selected and prioritised for monitoring these areas in Portugal
