Portuguese Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

The Portuguese Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (PTNMR) network was created in 2005 to provide the Portuguese research community with state-of-the-art NMR equipment and to establish a national NMR hub to provide services in a spirit of partnership between all participating institutions. One of the objectives of the PTNMR is to promote collaboration between the several poles of the network and to save funds by coordinating the re-equipment among all participating institutions, avoiding also undesirable duplication of equipment. This network intends to support research projects, the scientific Portuguese research community and provide services to companies and industry.

CCMAR is one of the institutions that are part of the Portuguese NMR Network and provides to the scientific community access to Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) equipment.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Equipment (NMR)

The NMR at CCMAR is dedicated to the analysis of compounds of diverse origins, including extracts from marine samples. We provide support, training and services in NMR, particularly in instrument use and spectral interpretation.

JEOL 500 MHz NMR Model 585JNM-ECZ500R/S3

The equipment includes an HFX probe and autosampler and can be used for molecular structure discovery and supramolecular chemistry.

Services

  • Routine NMR spectra for structural elucidation of small molecules
  • 1D NMR spectra of biological samples including small proteins or peptides and small molecules in the liquid state
