Ocean Observation Systems
In changing environments, ensuring that fisheries are sustainable and that conservation is effective requires a deeper understanding of the drivers of global change and a sound scientific basis to implement mitigation measures. For this, we are implementing long-term environmental monitoring (marine observation) and modeling technologies to build bio-oceanographic time series and map spatio-temporal variability in order to support fishing activities and the adaptive, integrated management of marine ecosystems. Observation systems include Argo floats as well as autonomous systems installed onboard fishing vessels allowing high-resolution in situ monitoring and spatial coverage.
