New Master student: Brigitta Varga

Tell us a bit about the work you are/will be doing at CCMAR.
I am going to do my Professional Practice at CCMAR, on the topic of “Ecophysiological responses of brown algae to climate change”. My tasks will include the maintenance and monitoring of kelp cultures, and the performance of laboratory experiments to evaluate the impact of changing environmental conditions on the development of kelp species. I will also evaluate the kelp growth rates of gametophytes or sporophytes with the image analysis software ImageJ.

What were you doing before you joined us?
I am in the middle of my master's studies (IMBRSea) and each of my semesters takes place in different countries and so I studied in Oviedo, Spain in my first semester, and then in Ancona, Italy in my second one.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love being outdoors in nature as much as I can. I like hiking, scuba diving, and dancing and I am also a certified yoga instructor so I do yoga a lot as well. I love spending my time with my family and friends. Although we meet very rarely due to my studies, we always try to make the most of the time we spend together.
