NEW ON BOARD: Juan Pardo | - CCMAR -

Tell us a bit about the work you are/will be doing at CCMAR.

I will be involved in the CLIMFISH project. This project aims at assessing the impact of climatic change on the main Portuguese fish and fisheries. To do this we will be working under different IPCC scenarios and will have to analyze large data sets to understand some relationships between the species biology/ecology and the environmental variables.

What were you doing before you joined us?

Right before coming to CCMAR I was working at IFREMER in Brest (France). During this period, I worked for the project CERES which seeks to evaluate the impact that climate change will have on the main European fisheries. More specifically, I was developing a joint modeling framework using the Dynamic Energy Budget theory and Individual Based Models for the European anchovy.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love to go out for birdwatching, so I spend 80% of my free time with my binoculars. I also enjoy photography (trying to do something acceptable on astrophotography in the last times…) traveling, and hiking in nature.
