Seminar: WE-LOG: A collaborative global network of coastal temperature sensors

Friday, February 15, 2019
at
Anfiteatro A, Complexo Pedagógico I UAlg

In this seminar, we will be talking about recent technological developments that allow us to reduce the complexity and cost of implementing large networks of temperature loggers. Drawing on our previous experience, we propose a new, global and collaborative network which will result in a unique dataset of standardized in-situ temperature measurements along coastal environments, complementary to satellite observations, with direct implications for climate change research.

When?

Friday I February 15 I 12:00

Where?

Room 2.31 I Building 7 I Gambelas Campus

About our speaker:

Fernando P. Lima is a researcher at CIBIO-InBIO, specialist in intertidal biogeography, studying the processes and mechanisms driving species distributions. Most of his work focus on the study of the mechanistic links between climate, thermal stress, physiology and macro-ecological processes. His research brings together a variety of disciplines, including climatology, biogeography, electronics, experimental ecology, physiology and modelling. He is a co-founder of WE-LOG, a collaborative global network of coastal temperature sensors.
