Biodiversity and Potential Toxic Elements (PTEs)

During this seminar I will present you the main results of the research activities I conducted for my PhD project related to the role of biodiversity, analyses at different level (from the community to the single individual), as a suitable biomonitoring tool. In the first part of the project I focussed my attention on different levels of anthropogenic impacts, and how they can affect benthic communities and their species composition. In the second part my research was related to specific pollutants, Potential Toxic Elements (PTEs), and in particular on mercury. I used sponges as bioindicators of Hg pollution, analyzing the bioaccumulation rates of Hg in different species trying to identify some of them as useful biomonitors.

The seminar will be held on June 16, at 13:30, online via Zoom platform.
Participation is free, but mandatory to register. REGISTER HERE!
